Buncrana band Don’t Fear the Natives are calling on their fans to help them win a coveted slot on the main stage of Vantastival 2019.

The indie group is one of 12 emerging bands playing on the Firestone stage at the Louth music festival this June Bank Holiday weekend.

But a battle of the bands is underway for new acts on the line-up to win a slot on the Main Stage and €4,000 worth of music equipment and studio time.

Don’t Fear the Natives are calling on their fans to give them a daily vote to help make a dream come true. Visit the voting page here: https://roadtothemainstage.firestonetyre.ie/meet-the-bands

Band member Denis Kelly said: “We are absolutely buzzing to perform at one of Ireland’s biggest summer festivals. Vantastival is massive for us, and for them to regard us as potential headliners among so many great artists, is awesome. This year has been brilliant so far with our Stupid Heart EP reaching a global audience with airplay across the UK, Australia, Canada and the U.S.

“We’ve got some nice shows coming up including Belfast later this month, Balor Theatre’s Gaslight Sessions on June 5th and Buncrana Music Festival on June 28th.”

“Each of the 12 acts already has a spot at the festival, but the ‘Road to the Main Stage’ contest narrows that down to 5, who will go head-to-head at a Grand Final in Drogheda with the opportunity to play the main stage and take home €4,000 worth of music equipment and studio time.”

Don’t Fear the Natives is comprised of Claire McDaid on vocals, Denis Kelly on guitar/vocals, Greg McDaid on guitar, Jennifer Tedstone on keyboard, Cathal McDaid on bass, and Denis Doherty on drums.

The band has been playing music on and off for a number of years. Denis Kelly and Claire McDaid started an electro-rock duo Palomino, but eventually realised that the sound they were aiming for required more members. They recruited more talented local artists and adopted the name ‘Don’t Fear the Natives’.

As they look forward to the summer festival, the popular group is appealing to all fans in the north west to vote for them in the Road to the Main Stage contest. Voting closes at midnight on 21st April and all voters have the chance to win Orange Headphones or a VIP festival experience.
