Letterkenny Golf: Thrilling week as large numbers turn out for Golf Opens

Another busy week in Letterkenny for club members as they took part in the Wednesday and Saturday Open. Full results below.

Sam Hegarty (14.2) had the winning score of 35 pts. Sam pulled 6 pars out of the course. Martin Gallagher (14.2) was a close runner up with 34 pts. and Kevin McBride (15.2) was third with 33 pts.

There was a large turn out of golfers for the Saturday Open on April 6.

Kevin Rafferty (3.8) was the winner on the day and had best Gross with a score of 39 pts. Kevin had 3 birdies i.e. on 1st, the 8th and the 11th along with 11 pars.  Ryan McGettigan (away) was the runner up with 37 pts. (bot) and Peter Muldoon (10.8) was third with 37 pts.

The Members Competition on Sunday 7th saw a very large turnout. Paul McGuckin (14.5) was the winner with a great score of 44 pts. Paul took 11 pars out of the course.

Jack Patton (4.2) was runner up with 39 pts. (bot). Jack had an eagle on the 11th.  Tommy Dempsey(13.9)  took third place and Eamonn McGlinchey (5.2) won Gross with 37 pts.

The successful ‘Get Into Golf’ programme run by Letterkenny GC is open to non-members and starts on Friday 26th April at 7pm.

Our PGA Golf Professional Seamus Mc Monagle will begin a five-week course of lessons for beginners with all equipment supplied.

The programme then moves on to a buddy up system for new golfers on the course and annual membership, excluding competition days.

Places are limited so book now to secure your spot! All you need to start is comfortable clothing and shoes. The Get into Golf Programme is €150 per player.

The Cat4 Monday evenings competitions have now started the winner this week was Paul Carlin with 22 pts. over 9 holes.
