The Glenties Community Playschool and Afterschool centre are now offering full-day child care from Monday-Friday 7:45am until 6pm daily following the successful launch of their ‘toddler room’ on March 21.

The new service consists of two separate play areas, a sleeping room, toilet facilities and a separate outdoor garden for the babies and toddlers.

The playgroup’s service now provides a continuity of care for children from one-year-olds up to 12 years of age.

The after-school facility includes homework, healthy snacks, art and crafts activities, outdoor football and play area, which is specifically designed with safety mats to ensure protection and safety in the outdoor environment.

In addition, the Glenties child care centre has a sensory garden where the children can play under a covered area of natural wood with areas that contain natural habitats for birds and insects, bird feeding boxes, and raised beds where children plant flowers and vegetables.

The group’s next project is to further enhance their outdoor areas with equipment and toys that will offer an abundance of opportunities for children to play in the physical environment.

Chairperson of the Glenties Community Playschool and Afterschool, said: “I would like this opportunity to thank all the extremely passionate and dedicated Staff and BOM of the playschool who have worked very hard over the past few years on a shared vision for the playschool.”
