County Councillor Frank McBrearty is to stand for Fine Gael in the forthcoming local elections on May 24th.
The Raphoe politician was added to the ticket in the Stranorlar Electoral Area at a meeting of the party last night.
A former Labour party councillor, Cllr McBrearty then became an Independent Councillor.
