The achievements of the Malaysian Students Society at Letterkenny IT were celebrated last week at the Board of Irish Colleges Societies (BICS) National Awards.

The college society was nominated in two award categories – student Edward Ng was nominated for Best Individual and the Malaysian Students Society were nominated for Best Society Promotional Video.

The group attended the awards ceremony in the Sheraton Hotel Athlone on Thursday 11th April.

While they did not take home the overall category prizes, they enjoyed an event dedicated to recognising the huge effort made by the many individuals who run student societies across Ireland.

The BICS Awards are an opportunity for students and their societies to showcase their numerous achievements from the previous year. Higher education is more than exams, coursework and lectures, and students who are involved in running college societies know this.

The National Awards are a means of recognising this dedication and are an opportunity to celebrate the importance and value that societies contribute to college life.
