Dungloe battle to the finish to eke out win over Ardara in Division 2

Dungloe battled to the final whistle and gained two more points in his Division 2 clash played in Rosses Park.

From the throw in it was end to end football and Francie Martin’s (pictured) Dungloe came out on top.

Conor Greene opened the scoring with a point after five minutes.

Ardara’s Lircan ODonnell broke through the Dungloe defence but had to watch his shot come off the post and cleared down the field where Noel McBride’s shot on goal also went wide.

Brendan McNelis levelled matters, hitting the visitors first score.

A mix up from the kick out gifted Ardara a goal, with Lorcan O’Donnell duly finishing.

Ardara Kicked two more points from Brendan McNelis (free) and CJ Molloy before Daniel Ward and Noel McBride kept the home side in touch.

Two Danny Rodgers frees narrowed the deficit.

A Tomas Boyle free, an Adam Neely free and a Brendan McNelis free finished the scoring of the first half, with Ardara ahead 1-6 to 0-6 at the changeover.

The home side started the scoring of the second half hitting two quick points from Gerard Walsh and Noel McBride.

CJMolloy pointed for Ardara to put two between the sides again.

Shane O’Donnell and Brendan McNellis stretched the visitors lead again.

An Adam Neely free fumbled in the goals ended in the back of the net to level matters on 43 minutes only for Brendan McNelis and Molloy to hit back for Ardara.

Dungloe’s Conor Greene hit the back of the net to put them ahead by a point.

Tomas Boyle (free) levelled for the visitors before Adam Neely and Shane O’Donnell traded points.

However, late in the game, substitute Shaun Sharkey hit the winner for Dungloe.
