Killybegs overcome Naomh Columba in south-west derby

Killybegs saw off Naomh Columba in an entertaining south-west derby at Pairc na nGael this evening.

Naomh Columba 2-11  Killybegs 2-16

Killybegs came away with the points in the sunny evening.

Naomh Columba got off to a good start in the first 10 minutes with points from Aaron Doherty (two frees) Pauric Ward and Lanty Molloy.

Shaun Gorrell did level things briefly then the Killybegs men took charge leveling with three unanswered points from Michael Gallagher (2) and Hugh McFadden.

In the 15th minute Shaun Gorrell finished off a good move involving Daniel Breslin to send to the back of the net.

Killybegs piled on scores from Jack McSharry, Seamus Og Byrne and Hugh McFadden before Naomh Columba got back in the contest with a well taken goal from Ronan Gillespie.

At half-time it was Naomh Columba 1-4 Killybegs 1-9.

In the second half Killybegs seemed to kill the game with a fisted goal from Daniel Breslin after good work from Evan Broderick and Shaun Gorrell.

Naomh Columba got back into it with Ronan Gillespie’s second three-pointer after good work from Michael Maguire, but Killybegs came away with the points.
