Anger at ‘disgusting’ Dearg Line dumping

There is anger at the dumping of large volume of rubbish on a scenic Donegal road.

Motorists on the Dearg Line near Barnesmore Gap were horrified to happen upon the pile of waste in the middle of the road at Meenbog.

The road connects Barnesmore Gap to Castlederg via a myriad of secondary roads in the Finn Valley area.

The discarded items included bags of rubbish, bedding, children’s toys and clothing.

“I think it must be a sick individual to do something like this,” said Councillor Patrick McGowan.

“Such a person would be capable of doing anything and so must be caught.

“I have asked the Council to go through each item individually and try and get some identification from the items and ask the Garda forensics to see if they would have look as see if some evidence can be found to stop this nasty person.

“In the meantime the public should study the photos closely and hopefully some one will recognise some item “

One motorist described the scene as ‘absolutely disgusting’.

“There was no paper so there seems to be no way of naming and shaming,” the motorist said.
