Gardaí in Letterkenny have renewed their appeal for information following an apparent ‘unprovoked’ attack on Monday morning.

Two men were hospitalised as a result of the incident outside a nightclub on Lower Main Street.

“It is believed that a male suffered a head injury as a result of a blow to the head, which subsequently resulted in him falling and hitting his head off the concrete,” Garda Grainne Doherty said during this week’s Garda community notices.

While the investigation is at an early stage it is believed this was an unprovoked attack, Gda Doherty said.

“A second male was taken to hospital with injuries linked to the incident. His involvement in the incident is under investigation at present,” Gda Doherty said.

The attacked occurred between 2.45am and 2.50am in the early hours of Monday 29th April.

CCTV and witness statements are being analysed, while Gardaí are appealing to taxi drivers or people who were outside the nightclub to come forward if they have any information relating to the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Letterkenny Garda Station on 0749167100 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
