A well-known Donegal-based Garda has been promoted to the rank of Superintendent.

Garda Goretti Sheridan has risen to the rank of Superintendent from her previous position of Inspector based in Letterkenny.

Superintendent Sheridan will begin her new posting in Castlerea in the coming weeks.

Ms Sheridan, who is from Rathmullan, has been stationed in Letterkenny since 2013.

Tributes were paid to Superintendent Sheridan at this week’s sitting of Letterkenny District Court.
