Letterkenny Shopping Centre has been shortlisted for a top award after bringing the community together to recycle over 15,000 bottles.

The shopping centre’s ‘Recycle and Win’ competition in October earned recognition from the Purple Apple Marketing Awards, which celebrate outstanding retail destination marketing.

Letterkenny Shopping Centre Manager Brian McCracken will be travelling to London for the awards ceremony on Thursday May 9th.

The shopping centre team has wished Brian the best of luck at the event.

A spokesperson said: “Last year’s campaign sought to gather and recycle as many plastic bottles as possible to raise awareness of the need to keep the bottles from the oceans and to recycle them correctly.

“The response from the community and especially the schools was amazing. The centre gathered and recycled over 15000 bottles and received great positive feedback from our loyal customers.

“The Letterkenny Shopping Centre is committed to recycling and will endeavour to run more environmentally friendly campaigns in the future.

“If there are any projects that the centre could support don’t hesitate to get in touch as the centre is always looking for local environment initiatives to support.”
