Listen: Barry Doherty and Kilcar aim to be ‘hard to beat’ after Gaeltacht success

Barry Doherty believes Kilcar are becoming ‘hard to beat’ as they prepare for the long haul again.

Kilcar overcame hosts Gaoth Dobhair 1-9 to 0-9 in today’s senior final at Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta.

“It’s been a while since we won this, so it’s great to win it,” Doherty told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.

“If you want to be playing come Championship, it’s on days like this that you show it. A lot of these guys are hungry to get in the team and hungry for success.”

Kilcar ended a 24-year wait for Donegal SFC glory in 2017, but were hit by key injuries last year as they relinquished their hold

But Doherty is optimistic now.

He said: “We lost guys at key times last year. We’re starting to look like we’re getting close to a standard that will make us hard to beat. We have to do what we do and work hard.”
