Listen: Roisin Friel says Termon ladies hope to build on their dynasty

Roisin Friel says yesterday’s Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta final win over Glenfin can help build Termon’s ladies as a force again.

It’s five years now since Termon won an All-Ireland club title, but yesterday’s 2-11 to 0-9 victory over their old rivals in Magheragallon showed signs that the Burn Road girls are back.

“It’s been a long time since we last won a county title of any kind,” Friel told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub afterwards.

“There are about 12 girls gone from the team that won the All-Ireland. It’s a big loss.

“We went from a feast to a famine. Thank God, we have a young team back in there.

“They’re the girls of the future and hopefully we can build something more.”

Geraldine McLaughlin – as she is so often – was the star of the show, posting a stunning 1-10.

Friel said: “When you have someone like her, you can work the ball in and she will get the scores.”
