Friends of the late Paddy Mulhern raise €4,440 for charity

A successful fundraiser held in memory of the late Paddy Mulhern has raised €4,400 for two vital causes – the Irish Lung Fibrosis Association and The Heart and Lung Transplant Unit at the Mater Hospital.

Paddy Mulhern RIP

Paddy Mulhern of Gortahork was an exceptional character who was well-known across Donegal and beyond. As the first and longest-serving bus driver of Mangan Tours, he was a friend and travel companion to many and a friendly face to many more passers-by.

Paddy sadly passed away in July 2018 after a long battle with lung disease.

Paddy himself; an avid Big Tom Mc Bride fan vowed that when he finally reached the end of his transplant journey, he would have a night of entertainment to raise funds for all who helped him.

Little did Paddy know, and to the tremendous shock and sadness of all who knew him, that he wouldn’t get to fulfil his envisioned trail to recovery.

Following his death, it was decided that Paddy’s aspirations would be carried out.

A great night’s entertainment was held in the Gweedore Bar in Falcarragh in February, with Big Tom being the theme of the night.

The total proceeds was €4,440.00 and split between the Irish Lung Fibrosis Association and The Heart and Lung Transplant Unit at the Mater Hospital.

The Mulhern and Mangan family and the Committee would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped, contributed and donated.

Both Mary Murray and John Cannon released cd’s that night and contributed all proceeds to the charity. Many thanks to all the musicians and singers on the night.

Thanks go out to Small Tom (Brendan Murphy), Ailish Mc Bride, Anne Biddy, Mary Murray, John Mc Hugh, Micheal Murray and Tommy Francis, all the ticket sellers and all who sponsored prizes and especially to everyone donated and helped make it such a huge success.
