Odhran Doherty from Letterkenny is counted among the lucky winners who have been part of a record-breaking start to 2019 for the National Lottery.

Famer Odhran (23), from the Glebe, scooped €1million in April to join a very exclusive club.

With his winnings, Odhran became one of just ten new Irish millionaires created by the National Lottery in the first three months of 2019.

New figures released by the National Lottery today have revealed record breaking figures for prizes paid out to players in the first quarter of 2019.

In the first three months of the year, over €288 million in prizes has been paid out and shared by over 10.5 million winners, large and small.

Donegal farmer Charlie Meehan (84) was also one of the biggest winners of the year. The lucky Manorcunningham man is one of seven Irish EuroMillions Plus top prize winners who won half a million euro.

The largest win of the year so far was the record breaking €175.4 million EuroMillions jackpot which was won by the ‘Naul Family Syndicate’ in February.

The National Lottery also revealed today that in the first quarter of 2019, participants in the National Lottery have helped raise over €60 million for local Good Causes all across Ireland.
