Chloe and Sam Magee alongside Rachael Darragh helped Ireland earn an impressive opening day group victory in the Sudirman Cup World Mixed Teams Championships in China on Sunday.

The trio were part of an Ireland Badminton side that picked up a 5-0 clean sweep against Nepal.

The Magee’s picked up the country’s first point, convincingly seeing off Nepal’s Dipesh Dhami and Amita Giri 21-6 and 21-4.

Raphoe Rachael Darragh, paired with Kate Frost, ensured an emphatic performance for Ireland without defeat against Amita Giri and Nangsai Tamang with a superb score of 21-2 and 21-5.

The trio will now prepare with the rest of the squad for their next game against New Zealand on Tuesday.
