Four talented students from Donegal have won top awards in this year’s 65th Texaco Children’s Art Competition.
The Texaco Children’s Art Competition is a platform for young artists to have their talents recognised. Over the years it has been a springboard on which many have risen to national prominence.
Four young ‘Picassos’ from Donegal picked up Special Merit Awards at a ceremony in Enfield recently. They are:
- Jack Mitchell (aged 8), from Scoil An Linbh Íosa, Donegal Town
- Mia McCalmont (17), from Abbey Vocational School, Donegal Town
- Sarah Gustafsson (15), from Royal And Prior Comprehensive School, Raphoe
- Aisling Amponsah (14), from Loreto Secondary School, Letterkenny
Aside from giving students the space to give expression to their talent and skill, the Texaco Children’s Art Competition has focused a spotlight on the quality of art teaching in Irish schools and the importance that the educational establishment attaches to the subject of art education.Tags:
