For Declan Bonner, the bottom line was all that mattered this afternoon.

Anything in between was merely background noise.

Bonner was pleased with how his team closed out a 0-15 to 0-9 win at Brewster Park to move into the Ulster semi-finals.

“The important thing in the Ulster Championship is winning,” Bonner told Ocean FM’s Paddy McGill after the game.

“It was tough. We knew it was going to be tough.

“The first half was a tense affair and we had to be patient. I felt we were in control and we needed to be more patient in front of the posts. When the gaps appeared, our score taking was very good.

“We knew we could open them up with long-range scores and we finished the last quarter out really strong.”

In that final quarter, Donegal outscored Fermanagh 0-6 to 0-1, but with Tyrone lying in wait, Bonner added: “We will have to improve. We don’t have much to dwell and we’ll move on.”
