Bookings are now being taken for Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT) Computing Summer Camps.

LYIT’s Department of Computing will host two weeks of Computing Summer Camps from Wednesday 5 June, 2019.

The camps, now in their fourth year, have gone from strength-to-strength at LYIT and provide fun and engaging ways to explore areas of Computing including:

  • Programming, Networking, Artificial Intelligence, Hacking and Security

The cost to participate in the camp is €45 with lunch provided daily included in the camp cost. The camp runs from 10am to 3.30pm and is open to young people aged 13-17 years with an interest in Technology and all things creative.

LYIT Computing students will support the Computing Camps in 2019 and students such as Amy Campbell, a 1st year student in Applied Computing at LYIT, will be on hand to support and assist young people taking part in this year’s camps.

Amy took part in the Computing Summer Camps when she was in secondary school and is now studying Applied Computing at LYIT. She found that by taking part in the Computing Summer Camps she was able to make a decision about her future and has since pursued her studies in Computing at LYIT.

She commented, “The camps are fun, the camps show you that studying Computing is fun, you get to explore exciting areas like Games Development, Hacking and Programming during the camps. I am so glad that I took part in the camps during secondary school as it helped me make the decision to study Computing.

“The camps provide you with the fundamentals of Computing and I would highly recommend taking part in the camps particularly for anyone with even the smallest interest in technology and computing. There is something for everyone in these camps and it really helped me to decide my future.”

Students that participate in the camps will receive a ‘Certificate of Participation’ following completion of the course.

To download an application form visit www.lyit.ie/News-Events/Article/lyit-computing-summer-camps-2019 but hurry as places are limited.

Completed application forms should be emailed to Martina Quinn, Lecturer and Computing Summer Camp Co-Ordinator at martina.quinn@lyit.ie no later than 12 noon on Tuesday 4 June, 2019.
