Listen: Maxi Curran reflects on ‘tough’ win for Donegal ladies against Tyrone

Maxi Curran was just relieved to see his Donegal ladies side avoid slipping in today’s Ulster Ladies SFC quarter-final.

Donegal won 3-13 to 2-12 on a day when Tyrone pressed hard down the home straight.

“It was tough,” Curran told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.

“Tyrone are a young team and very leggy. It was always going to be that kind of battle.”

Geraldine McLaughlin hit two of the Donegal goals, with Niamh Hegarty on the mark with the other.

Maria Canavan scored 1-8 for Tyrone and Donegal had to show all of their nous in the closing stages.

Curran said: “We held the ball well at the end. Tyrone were hunting in packs and needed the ball. We did okay considering we had a lot of inexperienced players on.

“Tyrone fired everything at it, but we’re happy to be in the next round.”
