Gardaí are investigating the theft of safety equipment from firefighters while they were rescuing victims from a serious car crash.
Fire crews were attending the scene of a head-on collision at Bridgend on Sunday night when the theft took place.
Thieves took a portable blue light, which had been placed for safety purposes. Gardaí are now seeking to recover the light and find those responsible for the theft.
The light is the property of the Fire brigade and has an identifying marker on it which reads “Fire DL12”.
It was stolen between 10.30pm and 1.30am between the 23rd and 24th of June (Sun/Mon).
Two people were hospitalised with serious injuries as a result of the crash.
Gardaí are also appealing for witnesses to the head-on collision, which was between a grey Audi and a red Golf. The Golf was travelling from the Bridgend area towards Burt and the Audi was coming from the opposite direction.
If anyone witnessed the incident or has any dash cam footage of the collision, or any information about the theft, is being asked to contact Gardai in Buncrana on 074-9320540 or call the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111.
