Magee, Reynolds end with a win in Minsk

JOSHUA MAGEE and Paul Reynolds ended their 2019 European Games schedule on a winning note.

After defeats in their first two outings this week at the Falcon Club, today’s win means a third-placed finish in Group B.

Magee and Reynolds overcame Kristjan Kaljurand and Raul Kasner from Finland.

Magee and Reynolds battles to an excellent 21-19 21-16 success.

The Irish pair encountered difficulty in the form of Britain’s Marcus Ellis and Chris Langridge in their opener on Monday.

Ellis and Langridge, the second seeds, scored a 21-11 21-13 win and they advance as group winners.

Yesterday, French duo Thom Gicquel and Ronan Labar defeated Magee and Reynolds 21-10 21-8 and go through in second.

Today’s win for Magee and Reynolds secured third ahead of their Finnish opponents.

WOMEN’S SINGLES

MEANWHILE, Rachael Darragh lost out to Finland’s Airi Mikkela in her final group game, 21-16, 21-19.

Darragh pushed Hungarian Agnes Korosi al the way on Monday, but was pipped 21-16 22-20.

German Yvonne Li overcame the Raphoe woman 21-17 21-9 and she fought every age of the way against Mikkela.
