Two-way traffic will be reinstated on the Pearse Road this weekend to allow for the busy Northern Bank Holiday period.

The sewer upgrade works will be completely removed from Thursday, July 11th to Monday the 15th July to facilitate traffic during this typically busy weekend.

Irish Water has said that two-way traffic will be permanently reinstated on Pearse Road on the week following the Northern Ireland bank holiday. A specific date has not been confirmed at this stage.

In a statement, Irish Water said it was “mindful of the disruption that these necessary works are causing for businesses and residents”. They have thanked the public for their ongoing cooperation.

Explaining the necessity of the sewer upgrade works Colm Claffey, Irish Water said: “Irish Water is currently undertaking works on the Pearse Road, Letterkenny which will stop sewer overflows from polluting the Swilly. These essential works are required under licence in order to bring the sewer network into compliance with the current EPA license and will protect the water quality in the river.”
