Planning permission that has been given the green light for Stramore NS in Gartan to build a pre-school and play area next to the school has been welcomed.
Speaking today Minister for Education and Skills, Joe McHugh, said he was ‘delighted’ with the news.
He said: “This is a first class sign of a school community looking to see how they can do more for the people living locally,” Minister McHugh said.
“I really am delighted that this plan is coming to pass. Donegal County Council has given the go-ahead with planning permission for a new standalone building beside Stramore NS which will be home to a pre-school and there will also be a play area.”
Minister McHugh added: “During my time in the Roinn na Gaeltachta, I pushed for a new grant system that would support projects in the Gaeltacht to help finance pre-schools and drive the initiative of Irish-medium early years provision.
“I am looking forward to working with everyone connected to Stramore NS to progress this project and hope to have discussions with Roinn na Gaeltachta in the coming weeks about it.
