The Minister for Disabilities Finian Mc Grath has confirmed that Seaview House is to resume services at the end of the month once repairs are completed to the facility.
Deputy Pat the Cope Gallagher received the confirmation on Thursday as the respite care contract was also awarded to Rehabcare.
A 5-day respite care service is to be provided at the facility following the awarding of a recent contract tendered.
Based on the tenders received and within the approved funding allocation, the HSE awarded the contract to RehabCare for a 5-day respite service to take place Monday to Friday.
Pat the Cope was informed by Minister Mc Grath that RehabCare has subsequently held an Open Day service for service users, families, carers and advocates, and is also meeting individually with people who will use the service and their families.
He said: “Seaview House is currently undergoing minor refurbishments, and it is planned that Rehabcare will commence respite services by the end of July 2019.
“This is welcome news and I certainly hope that the facility will be up and running in the timeframe outlined to me by the Department.”
