Gardaí in Donegal are warning the public to take care due to an ongoing phishing scam.
The scam, which targets people by text, is disguised as a message from Bank of Ireland.
The text tells a customer that their BOI account has been frozen. It asks the receiver to click a link “to avoid suspension”.
Gardaí are warning people to not click on the link.
A spokesperson said: “This is the latest phishing scam doing the rounds. This text was not sent by the Bank of Ireland.
“Should you receive it, do not click on the link. Delete the message and ignore it! Never give out your personal information.
“Banks do not send out text messages seeking account validation.”
