The Whirlpool Corporation has announced a major recall of some of its top tumble dryer brands due to a fire risk.
The company will begin a product recall across Ireland on the 4th of August.
The safety notice relates to certain models of Indesit, Hotpoint, Creda, Swan and Proline dryers built between 2004 and 2015. Tumble dryers under the Whirlpool brand are not affected.
The fire risk relates to a potential danger with the build-up of lint in the dryer.
Customers with the affected models, which have not been modified by the manufacturer, are being warned to unplug their applicances immediately and stop using it until it has been made safe.
A phoneline has been set up to arrange free replacements or repair options.
Customers then check if their dryer is affected by visiting www.indesithotpointsafety.com or calling 1800 804 320.
