Donegal captain Michael Murphy was named as the PwC GAA/GPA Player of the Month for July.

Murphy and Cork hurler Patrick Horgan scooped the July awards, which were presented in Dublin.

Murphy shone in Donegal’s Super 8 games against Meath and Kerry.

The Glenswilly man led the way in the 2-19 to 1-13 win over Meath in Ballybofey and he was majestic in Croke Park, scoring 1-7 in the dramatic draw with Kerry.

While Donegal bowed out of the All-Ireland race following a defeat to Mayo at the weekend, Murphy has been recognised for his endeavours.
