Gweedore 3-16 V 1-09 Glenswilly Gweedore looked to be in pre-championship mode in Maghergallon this evening as they brushed aside the challenge of Glenswilly with Gavin McBride’s 1-07 from play the highlight of the evening , which saw all but one of Gweedore’s score of 3-16 return come from play The home side were able to introduce both Daire O Baoill and Odhran McFadden as second-half subs and give several players an opportunity to catch the eye as the games come thick and fast in the coming weeks before championship gets under way in early September . Gweedore led by 1-07 to 0-03 at half-time , scoring 1-05 without reply after Caoimhin Marley’s fine point had given Glenswilly the lead in the first minute. Shane Ferry hit the first of three points a minute later and after Naoise O Baoill and Michael Carroll had combined and Carroll produced a bit of a juggling act with the ball behind his back it broke into the path of James O Baoill who tapped it to the net in the 5th minute . Gavin McBride opened his impressive evening’s account in the 8th minute and then Eamonn Collum , McBride again and another from Ferry left Gweedore 1-05 to 0-01 ahead in the 22nd minute. In the final six minutes of the half , Donnacha Gallagher converted two Glenswilly frees but McBride and Eamonn McGee added Gweedore points to leave it 1-07 to 0-03 at the break. The visitors cause was not helped by eight first-half wides. Charlie Collins reports from Maghergallon. Collum and Gallagher exchanged early scores after the break but then points from McBride and Carroll and a fisted goal to the roof of the net by McBride when Shane Ferry’s effort dropped short ended the game in relation to the result as Gweedore led by 2-10 to 0-04. Ryan Diver became a personal scoring crusade for the visitors with a fine point and Darren McGinley added another but Naoise o Baoill and Odhran MacNaillais replied for the home team, diver burst through for another impressive point but Ferry and two from McBride made it 2-15 to 0-07 with five minutes remaining . Diver and McBride exchanged points yet again and Christopher McMonagle added a point for Glenswilly in the 58th minute. We still had time for two more goals in the game , Eamonn Collum blasting home from close range for Gweedore’s final score and at the other end Ryan Diver rounded off a hugely impressive second-half display to palmed the ball just over the goal line for a personal tally of 1-03 in the second-half. Glenswilly remain on 12 points in the league table and with three games to go , none of them easy , are still in a battle to avoid relegation with four other teams .
