Suspects involved in a burglary in Fermanagh made their getaway into Donegal last weekend.

The thieves had robbed a safe from a filling station in Kesh, Fermanagh at 3.05am on Saturday the 10th of August before making their way to Donegal via Castlederg and Castlefinn.

Gardaí recovered two trailers which are thought to have been used by the suspects to transport the safe.

A green trailer was found abandoned the following morning on the main Castlefinn to Castlederg road at Gortnamuck. The safe was found cut open and abandoned in a field by a member of the public.

A second blue trailer was reported stolen from a local yard that night. It was later recovered a short distance away.

Gardaí are calling on members of the public who were on the road that night to come forward if they have any helpful information.

PSNI say that a vehicle which bore stolen registration plates UUI is of interest in the Fermanagh burglary.

Anyone who saw the trailers or a vehicle towing the trailers on the road is asked to contact Letterkenny Garda Station on +353 74 9167100.
