Buncrana Golf: Results from Michael Fitzpatrick Memorial Open Stroke

The Michael Fitzpatrick Memorial Open Stroke took centre stage at the weekend at Buncrana Golf Club.

And the huge turnout of members and visitors in the inclement weather was a testament to the high esteem that Michael was held within the local golfing community.

Club notes:

The Fitzpatrick Family once again put up a great array of prizes and with the weather not playing ball over the weekend conditions were tough and it showed on the scorecards. Single handicapper and local golfing legend Oliver Doherty (4) who has found a new lease of life on the course recently, produced the round of the weekend to return a 1 over Par gross round for a great score of 63nett which was enough to win him the 1st prize from Garry Doherty (R) who is also on a fine run of form this year.

Garry had to settle for 2nd place with his 64nett. We had a much welcome return to form for Damien Doherty (7) as he posted a 65nett/72 gross to take the Gross prize and Kevin McGrath continued his fine form with another podium finish by taking the 3rd Prize with a 65nett. Full results as follows;

1st Oliver Doherty (4) 63nett. 2nd Garry Doherty (11) 64nett. Gross Damien Doherty (7) 65 nett. 3rd Kevin McGrath (14) 65nett. Best Day Kevin Treacy (15) 67nett (Saturday). Visitor Liam Reddin (15) 66nett (City of Derry) and Back 9 Ciaran McLaughlin (10) 30nett. C.S.S. 65

Competition

The competition this coming weekend Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th  August will be the Credit Union Buncrana Open Teams of 4 SCRAMBLE. With the popularity of Team Competitions on the rise booking a Tee Time would be advisable. To book contact Francis or Gary in the office on 9362279 to ensure your name is on the Timesheet.

Find the Joker Fundraising

The “Find the Joker” is up and running again with a Jackpot of €775.00, lines only cost €2 each and this draw is open to members and non-members alike. Lines can be purchased in the clubhouse or through chief seller Oliver Doherty.

Juvenile Lessons

Juvenile Lessons for boys & girls is taking a summer break at the moment as Derek Morrison is on holiday. Lessons will return on Wednesday 28th August and will continue until the end of September, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and the cost is €5.00.

Meal Deal Competition

The winner of last Thursdays Meal Deal was Paul McDaid (12) with a great score of 40pts.  The Meal Deal Competition will run every Thursday and the cost to enter this competition is €18.00 for members and €25.00 for visitors.

The competition entry includes an 18 hole open stableford and a fantastic 2-course meal in the award-winning Drift Inn Bar & Restaurant after your game.

Don’t despair if you can’t use your meal deal voucher on the day of the competitions it can be used on Fridays as well. This is the best meal deal about and with the greens the best in the county it’s an excellent opportunity to experience the course and savour some fantastic food afterwards.
