Bonagee United U14s continued the club’s excellent winning streak of late with victory over Gweedore Celtic in the U14 Rosebowl final.

Grace Murphy’s brace and goals by Hannah Hopkins, Heather McLaughlin and Amy Callaghan gave Bonagee a superb win.

In drenching conditions at Dry Arch Park, it rained goals for Natalie McFadden’s Bonagee.

The bulk of these players had won an Under-16 Plate and Rosebowl double in the previous 10 days and they were toasting success again.

The lively Murphy fired Bonagee in front with a close-range finish early in the game.

McLaughlin, who had another superb game in the engine room, riffled into the bottom corner to give Bonagee a 2-0 lead at the break.

Bonagee were on top, but they found Gweedore goalkeeper Nadia McGee in excellent form.

McGee made a string of saves to keep Murphy, Hopkins and McLaughlin at bay, while Andrea Cutliffe also warmed her hands.

McGee managed to hold onto some of the more testing shots and kept her side in the game at the half-time interval.

However, Bonagee wasted no time in putting the game to bed in the second half as Hopkins, the captain, powered through to score a fine third.

Amy Cassidy was inches from what would have been a deserved goal, while McGee again saved from Murphy.

Soon, Murphy turned in for her second and Bonagee’s fourth.

The hosts defence, led by Eva Harvey and Codie Friel, with Cliodhna Patton and Katherine Hopkins putting in big shifts on the flanks, did their bit to help Aleysia Alcorn to a clean sheet.

Callaghan surged forward past a number of challenges to finish for a goal that topped another top display.

Late in the game, a marginal offside call denied Sienna Doherty a goal after a great run by fellow sub Chloe Creevy.
