September 2, 2019

A 13-year-old boy has been granted bail after being charged with a spate of robberies across Co Donegal.

The boy, who cannot be named due to his age, was accompanied by his mother at Letterkenny District Court.

The boy was arrested on July 29th last and was then charged with SEVEN different robberies which all took place in Letterkenny.

They include the theft of a go-kart worth €250 from Letterkenny Community Centre as well as robberies from two hotels, a cafe, a GAA club and a baby shop.

He did not reply when all the charges were put to him.

The court was told the boy had been ordered not to associate with three other named individuals and also to stay away from certain parts of Letterkenny.

His solicitor Rory O’Brien said the boy was complying with all aspects of his bail.

Mr O’Brien said there was an onus on the State to deal with the boy’s application as quickly as possible.

Judge Paul Kelly said he was extending the boy’s bail until October 21st to get directions in the case from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
