Change to Junior A Championship groups after Pettigo withdrawal

A CHANGE was made to the groupings in the 2019 Donegal Junior A Football Championship at tonight’s Donegal County Committee meeting in Ballybofey.

Last month, Pettigo withdrew from the Junior A Championship – a decision that left one of the groups with just two remaining teams.

Originally, Pettigo were drawn with Letterkenny Gaels and Moville in a three-team Group C while Groups A and B had four teams.

At tonight’s meeting, it was agreed to retain the three-group structure, with one of the eight teams from the four-team groups added to Group C.

Naomh Padraig, Muff were draw out and will now join Letterkenny Gaels and Moville in Group C.

This now leaves the three Groups as:

Group A: Carndonagh, Buncrana, Na Rossa, Naomh Padraig Lifford

Group B: Urris, St Mary’s Convoy, Robert Emmets

Group C: Letterkenny Gaels, Moville, Naomh Padraig Muff

Pettigo won the Junior B Championship in 2018 – their first Championship success since 1953 – but their already-light panel has been hit hard by a spate of recent injuries.
