Falcarragh business community invited to meet Irish Water this week

Members of the business community in Falcarragh have been invited to attend a meeting this week ahead of major water replacement works in the region.

It is understood that Irish Water is set to begin their planned water main replacement project in the west Donegal area in two sections.

The first section will invloved the replacement of the 1.7km of replacement pipe from the Cashel Reservoir in Gortahork, while section two will see 1.5km of water mains replacement from the Cashel Reservoir in Falcarragh.

Councillors were told earlier this year that Irish Water was committed to delivering water improvement works in Falcarragh as financial approval had been given to progress this through the National Leakage Reduction Programme.

A number of businesses in the west Donegal town have been plunged into consistent water issues for well over a year due to old pipe connections, forcing many to close their doors over the busy summertime period.

The meeting will take place this Friday, September 6 at 2pm in the Falcarragh Community Hall.
