Gardaí have issued a warning about driving in wet weather after a motorist was caught speeding on the outskirts of Letterkenny.
Members of the Roads Policing Unit detected a car travelling 156km/h in a 100km/h zone today (Monday).
The vehicle was stopped and gardaí issued this warning following the incident: “Please drive carefully and take extra care when the roads are wet!”
The Road Safety Authority advises motorists to remember that it takes longer to stop a vehicle on wet roads so slow down and allow extra distance between you and the vehicle in front.
Road users are also warning that there is a danger of aquaplaning during wet and flooded conditions, especially on roads with 100 km/h and 120 km/h limits.
