Job Vacancy: Magee 1866, based in Donegal Town, are now recruiting for a Womenswear Designer to join their team on a temporary maternity leave contract.

Magee has a proud heritage in cloth and clothing with a full lifestyle collection of mens’ tailored and casual wear, womenswear and accessories.

We wish to recruit a Womenswear Designer on a temporary contract for 12 months to cover the Maternity Leave of the present incumbent and whose key responsibility will be to source and design womenswear in keeping with the heritage of the brand and with a high level of commercial awareness.  You will be involved in the whole process from concept to completion.

You will be responsible for new seasonal product liaising with production plants.  Knowledge of garment detailing and construction is very important as well as technical knowledge of fabrics used across the collection.  Knowledge of technical specifications, pattern cutting, costing and pricing would be an advantage. You will be responsible for the “first fit” of each product sample.

The design process will require adherence to the Critical Path, liaising with relevant Departments including Merchandising, Production Planning and Marketing and the incumbent will be responsible for setting up Tech Packs and Bills of Materials.

Excellent presentation skills are required so that you will be able to present your designs to the salesforce with confidence.  Proficiency in Photoshop and Illustrator are essential and it is expected that the successful applicant will have a relevant professional qualification plus a minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role.

Some travel is essential so a full clean driving licence is required.

If you are interested in this role, please submit your CV to Ann Harley – recruitment@magee1866.com, together with a copy of your up-to-date portfolio.

The closing date for this vacancy is 30th September 2019.
