The Manhattan Restaurant of Donegal Town was officially relaunched on Friday night – with everyone wanting a taste of the Big Apple experience.

The modern restaurant is now under new ownership, with award-winning Chef Jonathan Reeves and Catherine Keown at the helm. The couple hosted a grand party to toast to a new era for the venue, with many locals turning out to support the venture.

Canapés went down a treat at the party as guests had the opportunity to sample the new and funky dishes on the menu.

Jerk Chicken, Coca-Cola Pork Belly, Gin & Tonic Scampi and to-die-for chocolate brownies are just some of the stand-out dishes on the eclectic menu, alongside the top classics, which are always fresh.

Chef Jonathan is the previous owner of a 2 AA Rosette restaurant in England and is best known as the former Head Chef of one of Mayo’s top restaurants, Brennan’s Lane.

Now, he is bringing all the influences of his career together to give diners at Manhattan an interesting treat, enjoying locally-sourced food in a casual environment. Fifteen staff are employed within the team.

Speaking after the relaunch, Chef Jonathan said: “We really enjoyed tonight, it’s nice to invite everyone in to see what we are doing here at The Manhattan.

“We have an exciting few months ahead. We’ve got a new menu coming out in October and some new additions to the cocktail list. Our cocktails will be done in a particular fashion because we like to have something a little bit ‘us’. We look to be funky wherever possible.

“The support from the Donegal Town community has been amazing over the past few months. It has been phenomenal. There is a lot of good willing people and the support tonight has been fantastic.

“Party season is coming up and we will be catering to all special occasions. We’re looking forward to arranging menus to suit every group’s tastes and budgets, just give us a call and we’ll look after you.”

Catherine added: ”We want to thank everyone who has attended the relaunch. It means so much to us and we are delighted to see how well it has gone. We love to see new faces coming in and we can’t wait to welcome everyone to The Manhattan Restaurant.”
