A LATE volley of scores gave Naomh Columba the edge over Burt in a tough Intermediate Championship encounter at Hibernian Park.

Burt 0-10 Naomh Columba 0-12

Ryan Gillespie hit there of the final four points to give Glen a vital win.

Burt’s bid for promotion from Division 3 had capitulated in recent weeks and the Inishowen men were keen to make amends here.

But it was Naomh Columba who held sway in the early stages with Aaron Doherty, Ryan Gillespie, Kevin McNern and Ronan Gillespie all firing over points for the south west side.

Burt, though, were level by the break with Christy McDermott and Denver Kelly among the scorers.

Burt inched away, with four points by Sean McHugh key to their charge.

Glen shook themselves into action to lead with five minutes to go and Ryan Gillespie and Ronan O’Hare helped secure the win.
