A Donegal County Councillor has welcomed news that works on a footpath near Ballybofey are to begin next week.

Cllr Patrick McGowan said works on the Trusk Road has been granted following funding from the Donegal County Council and local contributions.

It is understood that works are also due to start on a new footpath on the Letterkenny Road, Stranorlar in Admiran near the Twin Towns.

Cllr Patrick McGowan said: “Both projects are way overdue, due to other major works in Ballybofey and Stranorlar taking precedent and traffic volumes meaning only certain roads works can be managed at any one time.

“Nevertheless, it is good to see work underway at long last.”
