Two Eoin McHugh goals in the opening 20 minutes put the host well in control of this Senior Championship Group D opener in Towney on Sunday.

Kilcar 3-16 Malin 0-07

The first was a fine individual effort finished to the bottom corner and the second was a tap in following a perfect ball across goal from Patrick McBrearty both sides struggled at times in the slippery conditions in the opening half that ended 2-08 to 0-02.

Oisin McGonagle’s early dismissal proved a huge blow for Malin as they struggled to maintain a relentless Kilcar.

After the break, three further points from Christopher McLaughlin, Brain O’Donnell, and McBreatry opened up and even bigger lead for Kilcar.

Conor Doherty fired in a third goal on 41 mins in a match where the home side were in control for much of the match.

Malin could only scramble four points before the end compared to the 2017 champions emphatic form as they sustained their ferocious pace, adding six further points to blow the 2016 semi-finalists away.
