Donegal well represented on Ulster-Connacht select to face Northern Ireland

SEVERAL DONEGAL players have been named in an Ulster/Connacht selection that will represent the Republic of Ireland in a junior international later this month.

The Ulster/Connacht select was chosen from a recent trial game held for players from the various leagues.

The game will take place at Lecarrow, Roscommon on September 25 to mark the official opening of the John Sherlock Stand. Lecarrow is the headquarters of the Roscommon DSL.

Ulster Senior League champions Cockhill Celtic will be represented by Peter Doherty, Oisin McColgan, Jimmy Bradley and Laurence Toland, with Bonagee United’s Garbhan Grant also included on the 20-man selection.

Greencastle FC, the defending Inishowen League champions, have Dylan Doherty, James Henry and Matthew Henry.

Glengad’s Matthew Byrne and John Gerard McLaughlin have been selected, while Daire McDaid of Kilmacrennan Celtic is the sole representative from the Donegal League.
