There are up to eleven sex offenders on a register which covers sex offenders in the North West region.
Donegal Daily has learned that at least TWO of those are based in the Letterkenny area.
The annual report from the Sex Offenders Risk Assessment and Management Scheme contained the details this week.
Those on the list are regarded as being of a “high” or “very high” risk of reoffending.
A total of 146 sex offenders are on the list across the entire country.
The crimes committed include defilement, sexual assault, rape as well as possession, production or distribution of child abuse imagery.
The North West region covers the counties of Donegal, Cavan, Sligo, Monaghan, Louth and Leitrim.
The scheme which oversees the report is comprised of professionals from TUSLA, the Prison Service, An Garda Siochana and the Probation Services.
