Aodh Ruadh pip St Naul’s to post vital IFC win in Ballyshannon

AODH RUADH managed to come from four points down at half-time to overcome St Naul’s this afternoon in the IFC at Fr Tierney Park.

Aodh Ruadh 1-12 St Naul’s 1-11

A goal by Peadar Mogan had given the side from Mountcharles a 1-2 to 0-2 lead and they managed to build on that to go in at the break with a 1-5 to 0-4 advantage. Aodh Ruadh had the wind in that opening half but didn’t make use of it. However, their second period would show a much improved performance.

Barry Griffin scored the last point of the half and all looked good for the away team. However, Philip Patton would score six points in all and with Nathan Boyle also on form, the Ernesiders soon cut into their arrears. It took a goal from Niall Murray eight minutes before the end to swing it Aodh Ruadh’s way and although Mogan scored 1-3 and Stephen and Barry Griffin three apiece, it was the Ballyshannon team who took the points.

Aodh Ruadh scorers: Philip Patton (0-6, 5f), Niall Murray (1-0), Nathan Boyle (0-3), Michael McKenna (0-2), Diarmuid McInerney (0-1).

St Naul’s scorers: Peadar Mogan (1-3, 2f), Stephen Griffin (0-3, 2f),  Barry Griffin (0-3), Martin Breslin and Conor McBrearty (0-1)
