Donegal schoolchildren plan climate strike next week

Schoolchildren and students from Donegal plan to stage climate strikes as part of a global day of climate action next week.

The September 20th rallies confirmed so far will see young people gather in Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway city centres as well as in Drogheda, Tralee, Kenmare, Ennis, Navan and Dundalk.

Meanwhile, a school climate strike will also take place in Market Square, Letterkenny between 10am and 1pm on the day.

And the organisers of the event are convinced that we will see more at the strike than the previous two held in Donegal.

Strike organiser and Buncrana student, Conal O’Boyle, said: “The momentum is continuing to grow, both here locally and of course, internationally, and it’s so important now as ever that we keep this momentum going.

“People around here are starting to notice that there is a crisis on the horizon and even on a local level, it’s great to see people wanting to take action.”
