Stephen Rochford confirms he’s staying with Donegal

STEPHEN ROCHFORD has reaffirmed his commitment to Donegal in the wake of speculation linking him with the Galway job.

Rochford was widely tipped to be named as successor to Kevin Walsh in Galway and it was reported that he was on the verge of vacating his role with Donegal after just a year.

However, Rochford will remain on as Head Coach of the Donegal senior footballers, working alongside manager Declan Bonner. Rochford joined Donegal’s back room team last October and was a big hit with the squad.

Asked if he was staying with Donegal for the 2020 campaign, Rochford said: “I certainly am.”

Rochord was speaking on the AIB GAA Podcast with Oisin Langan and looked at the teams who could lay down a possible challenge to Dublin.

“On any given day, there are three or four teams that can have a go,” Rochford said.

“I’d like to think that Donegal are going to be here for the next couple of years also.”
