The costs of rebuilding a home in Donegal are among the lowest in Ireland, according to a new report.

The Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland’s (SCSI) annual house rebuilding cost guide has found that the cheapest place to rebuild a house is in the north west region, where it costs an average of €130,000.

Nationally, rebuild costs are up 6% in the past year. High levels of activity in the construction sector has led to an inflation of construction prices and higher rebuild costs. Plus, new building regulation changes have contributed to a rise in costs, according to the SCSI.

The guide to house building is used by homeowners to calculate the rebuilding costs of their home for insurance purposes.
