Listen: ‘We shouldn’t need a half to get going’

SHAUN PATTON says St Eunan’s should be ‘disappointed’ with their lot on Sunday – despite a 12-point win over Ardara.

It took a long time for St Eunan’s to click into gear with an early John Ross Molloy goal keeping Ardara in the hunt.

After drawing away to Gaoth Dobhair, the defending champions, last weekend, St Eunan’s did hit high notes in the second half and, propelled by a Niall O’Donnell goal, the black and amber had 12 to spare at the end of the game.

“We weren’t near the levels we should have been at,” Patton told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub afterwards.

“We were quite good in the second half. The first half was disappointing.

“We need to suss that out. Looking at the overall performance, we should be disappointed. We shouldn’t need a half to get going. We should be ready to fire it up. We didn’t build on last week as well as we could have.

“We weren’t at the races and it took us half-an-hour to get things right. We just needed to be more ruthless.”
