BOTH SIDES had already guaranteed themselves quarter-final slots, but Naomh Columba secured top spot in their IFC group with a seven-point win over Naomh Colmcille.

Naomh Columba 1-12 Naomh Colmcille 0-8

Naomh Columba got off to a good start from a point from Aaron Doherty, which was quickly cancelled out by a Daniel Clarke free.

A Ryan Gillespie point from play was quickly followed by a penalty as Ryan Gillespie was fouled, Aaron Doherty sent Michael Lynch the wrong way from the penalty spot.

More points from Gillespie and Doherty put the hosts well in charge but back came Naomh Colmcille men with a ’45 from Michael Lynch and two points from William Gillespie.

That kept them in touch at half time with the score Naomh Columba 1-6  Naomh Columba 0-4.

The second half was barely three minutes old when the lead was cut to a goal thanks to two Michael Lynch frees, but Naomh Columba hit back through Ryan Gillespie and Doherty.

Ronan Gillespie and William Gillespie traded points before further scores from Doherty and Kevin McNern for the home side.

PJ McBrearty got the final Naomh Colmcille point, but Doherty had the last say as the final whistle sounded.
