Minister for Education and Skills Joe McHugh has announced that Cockhill National School has been given the green light for important external works at the school.

The works will involve securing the perimeter of St Oran’s School, which is located in Buncrana.

“Every month we are seeing important improvement works in schools, whether its new classrooms, toilets, safety or structural upgrades,” Minister McHugh said.

“All projects are crucial, no matter the scale and I am delighted to be able to see a school like Cockhill NS get the green light for some important work to secure the perimeter of the school.”

The project was approved by the Department of Education and Skills’ Building Unit under the Emergency Works programme.

Minister McHugh said: “The work to ensure there is a secure perimeter around the school is essential and with the busy area around Cockhill FC and St Mary’s Church on the outskirts of Buncrana this improvement work should make an important difference in the day to day operation of the school and ensuring children have a safe area.”
